Located in the city center, adjacent to the city walls, this historical mansion is the oldest example of civil architecture in Kayseri. The original parts of this building, known as Güpgüpoğlu Mansion, were built between 1419 and 1497. Over time, some sections have been added and changed. Evliya Çelebi also mentioned this structure while describing Kayseri in his Travel Book. The building, which was registered as Immovable Cultural Property to be Protected in 1976, was expropriated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in the same year. It was exhibited and arranged on May 18, 1995 and opened to visitors as a Museum-House. Three years later, in accordance with the orders of the Ministry, the Ethnography Museum, which was previously located in the Hunat Madrasa, was moved to this building on May 18, 1998 and started to serve as the Ethnography Museum from this date on.
